I would want a cook. I can pick up my stuff. A cook would have food out for me and I wouldn’t have to worry about what to make to eat. Also, they could make healthy meals for me. They could be my motivation to lose weight. :]
I’d really prefer a housekeeper that cooks (which is the most amazing help in the world) but if I HAD to choose one, it would be a cook. Cleaning I don’t have to do daily, but cooking I do ;)
I AM the housekeeper and the cook but if I had to give one up it would be housekeeping. Cooking is inspirational for me. I feel inspired to be creative in the kitchen and LOVE cooking.
it’s 3 a.m. in my world. i haven’t gone to bed yet because I’m doing laundry and cleaning…because i can’t take the mess anymore…and procrastinating in between by google reader readin’.
and i just before i saw this post as i was starring at our bathroom, debating whether or not to clean…. i let out a big sigh,
Cook. I have no talent for it, aside from my famous meatloaf. And I can clean a house in seconds. And, well, actually, I am A GREAT COOK…until people have to actually eat the stuff…
Cook. I’ve had both and enjoyed them, but I’d go with a cook. The only condition is that the cook cleans the kitchen!
I can cook well enough, but I hate deciding what to cook. If I had a cook, I could shove him/her out of the way if I wanted to cook, but if not… meals ready!
Besides, I forget to eat if left alone, so a cook to remind me it it time to eat and make healthy snacks for me would be great.
I can keep the house clean if I don’t have to cook.
This is actually a little difficult for me. I want to say housekeeper, but I wonder if I’d feel the need to clean before the housekeeper came, so she wouldn’t know how messy we really were? Plus lately the cooking really stresses me out. But so does the housekeeping. Ok, I’m saying housekeeper. Because maybe if my house were already clean the cooking could be a little more joyful.
hmmm, that’s kinda tough. i am not good at EITHER!
but i’d go with housekeeper! i can go out to eat….can’t do anything about the housekeeping. you sending one over for me??? he/she would be put to good use over here!! :)
neither. i was interviewed by a TV reporter once and he asked about my role as a wife. i said that my husband was the CEO and i was the COO, chief operations officer. the reporter quipped, “you’re the C-O-O-K too?” i agreed, even though i wasn’t quite quick enough on the draw to realize what he was saying.
i sort of wish for a housekeeper, but then i’d have to do what my friends do…clean up for the housekeeper. that’s more work than it’s worth!
i’d like meals to magically appear, like tonight when i come home from work at 6:30, but they don’t. i’m thankful my family is easy, and that they guys even scrounge for themselves when i’m too tired, a meal we call “catch as catch can”.
I have five kiddos ranging in age from 6-14 that I homeschool, meaning I don’t have a lot of time to clean properly. Usually it piles up until I get frustrated with it and then I Whirlwind Clean. I’d really rather not do that!
I’d enjoy a cook who’d make delicious, healthy low-calorie and low-carb type of meals. But I wouldn’t like to have to deal with anyone being in the house!
If I could just snap my fingers and the meal would show up, now that would be the best.
It looks as if “anonymous” has struck again. (See comment section of previous post). I wish that person would leave well enough alone. Although I do not know Alece personally I have enjoyed her wit and humor on this site. Her candid writing style is refreshing. It is a pleasure to come here and read her words. They are often enlightening and inspiring to me and I’m sure to others. I wish someone from the head of her ministry would come to her support and attest to all that she is doing and contributing even from afar. That way all of these accusations could be put to rest.
I so agree Amanda, and I am so sad to see such anger blasted over Alece’s own blog. I’m so frustrated about it and I, too, don’t even know her personally.
I just have been so ministered to by her blog and her heart. She displays one of the most honest hearts I have ever observed – which makes it doubly frustrating to read the words of the anonymous poster…
Why couldn’t you have come up with an EASY question?
Hmmm…cooking has to be done every day, and I can’t say I enjoy it…but then, you can go out for dinner. Housekeeping…well, I’m not so bad at the picking up, it’s that REAL cleaning that I really don’t like doing and rarely do. I’d actually like to know a housekeeper was coming, and I had to pick up whatever stuff was lying around. It’s not usually more than 15 minutes worth of pickup…yet I rarely do it, ’cause…why? Then I’d have a reason, and I’d LOVE having my house that clean all the time.
And half the ::ugh:: of cooking is doing the dishes…
So I supposed I’ve talked myself into choosing housekeeper. :-)
At home we have someone who cleans and cooks and someone else who does laundry. I live in the Dom Rep and it’s not that expensive! & no we don’t clean up for any of them, they’ve been with us for 9 years, they know us inside out.
I would l.o.v.e. to have a cook and often say “If I had money…” I don’t mind cleaning, (kind of enjoy it actually!) but cooking … it’s not for me which is unfortunate because I am a wife and mother…
Housekeeper, no doubt…especially now they could totally help me pack all my crap up and make my apt look gorgeous for the new tenant…then they could just come along with me!
Otherwise I’m with Lindsey Nobles up there…hairstylist please :D
Oh housekeeper for sure. I LOVE cooking, but hate cleaning. Having a housekeeper would be like heaven. Especially since my kids are pros at making messes and also pros at whining and excuse-making when it’s time to clean up.
A cook. Definitely a cook. I have ZERO desire to make anything with J deployed and my kids would like some real food now and again. Our house is teensy, so the cleaning takes an hour or two, start to finish. So, yes, a cook. Purty please?
I say housekeeper for sure…my foster daughter said cook for sure. Since she already cleans, I guess maybe I’d have to say cook until she goes back home and I have to do my own cleaning…ha! Great question! :)

a housekeeper. i love cooking.
@hannahruthie says:
housekeeper! cooking I can handle. plus, I might gain 20 pounds if I had a personal cook.

A housekeeper.
I love to cook! But on the housekeeping side of things….eh…. there are just too many other things I would rather be doing ;)

DEFINIITELY a housekeeper. Stuff just magically gets untidy with a 3 year old and a 5 year old in a small space like a HOUSE…. lolol
what if i’m already married?

…and now — just kidding. it was completely just a joke.)
Housekeeper! Hands down! Who wants to clean a bathroom?
I meant that as a new comment, not a reply…sorry!
I AM the housekeeper and the cook but if I had to give one up it would be housekeeping. Cooking is inspirational for me. I feel inspired to be creative in the kitchen and LOVE cooking.
Definitely a housekeeper. While cleaning can be therapeutic… cooking is inspiring and adventurous for me.
so.funny.

i’m going to have to go with a housekeeper as well.
it’s so much easier being creative when you cook. creative housecleaning doesn’t always fly, even if you live alone!
@bahava says:
housekeeper! i am okay with organizing but am so not a cleaning type person…
@CandySteele says:
I wish “handyman” would have been a choice, but since it wasn’t, I’ll take the housekeeper, hands down. Just keep him/her out of my kitchen.
Housekeeper. I’m way more anal about how my house looks than how my food tastes.
HOUSEKEEPER!!!!!!!!!!!! Hands down.
Cook. I have no talent for it, aside from my famous meatloaf. And I can clean a house in seconds. And, well, actually, I am A GREAT COOK…until people have to actually eat the stuff…
housekeeper – no contest. i can cook with the best of them, but cleaning it up drains all the fun!
Hands down a housekeeper .. then I would have time to devote to cooking and other things I love. Yep, give me a housekeeper! :)
Housekeeper!!!! Thankfully my husband does most of the cooking.
Housekeeper. No question.
Housekeeper!! I like my house a certain way as far as tidiness and cleanliness but cooking is fun for me…if I had a housekeeper, more time to cook!
@christielici0us says:
A HOUSEKEEPER, without a doubt.
On the days I don’t want to cook, my husband LOVES to. But on the days I don’t want to clean, it just doesn’t get done.

Whichever one is willing to do my laundry…seriously, it’s a battle to keep 5 people in clean clothes – and I am.not.winning. :)
Have a great weekend!
so easy.
housekeeper. (and dishwasher….i can make a serious mess in the kitchen!)
SOOOO Easy!!
HOUSEKEEPER!!
What a dream that would be…. :-)
Oh, that’s easy. Housekeeper. Then I could cook and they would do the dishes.
HOUSEKEEPER! Ohhhh, yes, plllllease?!?!
most definitely a housekeeper. . .
Housekeeper. no doubt.
A cook. Cleaning my house has become a bit cathartic to me. And? I’m horrible in the kitchen.
housekeeper. i like to cook
Housekeeper cuz I already have Laraine :-)
I am sitting here putting off cleaning right now! I HATE cleaning! Cooking I love to do though.
How about you?

housekeeper. I love cooking, but vacuuming – totally different story!
hairstylist please…
Housekeeper. Hands down!

Housekeeper! And then I’d add a personal assistant too lol

all we’re eating for dinners is a protein and veggies. i can only do so much with those two items for so long. i need help. i need a cook.

Housekeeper!
Housekeeper. Love to cook. Hate to clean.

Housekeeper. The housekeeper would clean up after my cooking!

Housekeeper.

Housekeeper. Any day of the week.
I cannot fathom wanting a cook over a housekeeper…that’s how clear this choice was for me. lol
Housekeeping is a thousand little tasks that last all day long and isn’t always fun.
Cooking is one task that can mostly be fun if you don’t have to clean up after it.
HOUSEKEEPER PLEASE! ;o)
@jeffgoins says:
House-keeper. Definitely.
a cook who can clean up the kitchen (and the rest of the house)
a housekeeper….
Housekeeper. Definitely a housekeeper.
Cooking can be therapeutic for me.
