what is good

I am still on my blogging break. (Hope you’re not getting sick of these “talk amongst yourselves” posts…)

But I wanted to let you know that I’m sharing the most painful part of my story over on my friend Jenni’s blog today. She’s in the middle of a series on God’s redemption even in adultery. You need to read every single one of those posts! The raw honesty of the hearts being shared there is so incredibly beautiful.

And today is my day to share.

As the only contributor without an obvious “happy ending”, I’m hoping God uses it to uniquely speak into the hearts of others who find themselves in a similar situation. And that the right people stumble upon the post if it’s something their hearts need to hear. Pray with me for that?

Trusting today that God can redeem even this.

    Walk humbly.

In all things, to not dispise where I am… and when we get to somehwere more exciting, not to be proud. To realise that God is in all, that all I have is because of Him, and without him I am nothing, have nothing, and will be nothing.

Did you know that Queen Elizabeth II is quoted as saying that this is her life’s verse? I love that. If only all rulers and monarchs did the same… imagine our world!!

    I honestly can’t separate them…

I know that’s a cop out to the question, but those 6 words have always been a foundational verse for me. God requires all 3 of us, and to emphasise one above the others just feels wrong for me.

They’re all part of the same thing : living the Gospel.

  3. Katie says:

Actually…the part that the poster leaves out. “With Your God.” That’s gotten me every since I did that Quality Time post on God using the love languages to love us. (http://hopeiscalling.blogspot.com/2009/08/gods-desire-is.html)

  4. one of my absolute favorite verses.
i love all these wallpapers you’re posting.
but i miss you reading your words, too.
just wanted you to know! ;)

    love you, lady!

  5. Walk Humbly.

I desire that for myself so much.

  6. This was the theme verse of the study off campus program in DC where I met my husband…. :)

  7. Melissa says:

I have to choose? All three are resonating very deeply with me, but if I have to choose: walk humbly.

I think with everything going on around me, pride is a very deep trap, instead of continuing deep, humble dependence.

  8. terri poss says:

Walk humbley. I guess that’s where I struggle the most, with pride, thinking I am sufficient in and of myself to take care of things that are so obviously beyond my control. Sitting in that right now. right.in.the.middle.of.it. Ain’t real pretty – the situation, that is. The surrender is ok. A relief, but still in a quandry about what to do or not do.

  9. jessica says:

that chapter may not have the happy ending but you have a happier beginning to the next chapter!!

you have a circle of wonderful people surrounding you that care, love, support, and pray for you. you are free from the lies and abuse. you have found strength in places you didn’t realize you had strength.

i am so proud of you, friend.

  10. Lisa says:

    Love mercy.

What’s that old saying? Grace is getting what you don’t deserve and mercy is NOT getting what you DO deserve.

I need to have a much deeper understanding of true, godly mercy. Because I don’t think I extend it to others — or myself — anywhere close to the way He wants me to. I’m too much like the lawyer in the story of the Good Samaritan who’s trying to find the legal loophole in asking, “Who’s my neighbor?” How much mercy do I have to extend and still make it in, God? How much forgiveness? Instead of it just being what I breathe and do without thinking. :/

You may not have the whole “happy ending” you think others who’ve shared their stories have (or maybe think you’re supposed to have by this point), but there IS one that is uniquely yours that IS coming.

It’s like I hear the sound of a train whistle as I’m writing this. The tunnel is dark. You can’t tell, but you’re still moving forward. And then the train bursts through the tunnel into the light. And what a view it is.

Love you super duper much. Miss your thoughts, but understand the break! ;o)

  12. Jenny says:

SO proud of you friend… I know how hard this was

  13. worldofopp says:

This verse! Everywhere I look, everyone I talk to it’s there.

All of them are so important…we need to have justice and mercy for a good balance…and humility so that we don’t get to caught in pride. Wow.

  14. Michelle says:

    Right now…Love Mercy.

I’ve needed so much mercy and He is faithful to pour it on.
    I’m sooooo loving Him.
