Ready, set, go!

  • This week was a bit of a blur. Niel was in a different town everyday, and I feel as though I barely saw him…
  • We had some ministry guests from the pastoral staff team of Mt. Ararat (a church in VA). They came to Africa to check out some ministries they are considering partnering with. We had a great visit with Greg and Susan. Getting to share our vision and passion was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. They were fired up about what God is doing here and asked us to pray for them as they return home to share all they saw, learned, and experienced with the rest of their church leadership team.
  • I spent a lot of time with kids this week, with a day at Limakatso and a day at Hope House (a new orphanage outreach I take our interns to). At Hope House, I held two-month old Themba for about two hours straight. What a beauitful gift from God his life is…
  • I enjoyed a long walk with a friend yesterday. She shared with me a personal victory in her life — the outworking of Christ in her — and it left me encouraged and excited. THE highlight of my week!
  • I read some great things this week, like this, and this, and this.
  • I reconnected with an old friend whom I met on my first mission trip 14 years ago. Craziness!
  • I got a card in the mail from my mom which said: “Ask me what beauty is, and I will show you my daughter.” Wow. That did wonders for my heart.

What are some highlights of your week?

oy! Well, we got a new (free) washer on Thursday … due to some breakage and flooding problems. … now we get a new floor too! And yesterday I somehow forgot that I am the palest girl on the planet, last night was not much fun. I felt like a furnace, and then my muscles and joints started to ache. Now I’m mostly just crispy. sigh. Also I made a great friend through comments on a publication! Not too bad – usually my weeks are same old/same old. :) Yours sounded full!

OKAY. So blogger somehow deleted a very key portion of my sentence. I did actually type: Yesterday I somehow forgot that I am the palest girl on the planet, and that my skin hadn’t seen sun in well over a year, and I spent an hour in the hot sun. Last night was not much fun.

    Weird.

Sun. Celebrated One Year anniversary of the church that we are pastoring here. Also celebrated Father’s day. Very good. Mon. Friends went back to the States after a week long stay. Tue. Turned 31. DaRonn took me out for sushi – Super yummy! Fri. Spent the afternoon at a friends house and ate boiled bananas in milk. Then had a fun date with my man. Sat. Climbed the stairs in record time. It was the coldest day of the year here in Bolivia. In the evening I did a relationships talk at our youth group. That went real well. Came home and watched a pirated copy of Oceans 13. fun fun fun.

I had a very good week – thanks for asking. :o)

14 years ago – what year was that? – 1993 – right? Wow. You have been at this for a long time. Bless you, you are very dedicated. And still passionate. Thank the Lord for that!

My first trip overseas was an exchange trip turned mission trip to Australia in the summer of 1994. After that came Botswana in 1996. Then Costa Rica in 1997. Then to Bolivia in 2001.

I hope you get to see your man more this week. Blessings!

Happy Birthday, my beautiful daughter! I celebrate you today! And,as always, give our LORD thanks for you. He only gave me one daughter, but He gave me the best! I am truly blessed.

One day, I’ll surprise you and fly out in time for my birthday and stay through yours or maybe Niel’s. Wouldn’t that be something? “It could happen.”

I got to share all about Thrive Africa yesterday with a group of people. I find my soars when I do that!

    With all my love, Mom

Happy Birthday! Your e-mail says you are out of the office so I hope you get all of your birthday greetings. Highlight of my week? We had new friends over Saturday night and played Guitar Hero.

  7. africalece says:

    WHAT exactly is “Guitar Hero”?

  8. danielle says:

loved “We’ve let the greatest message in the world, become “clouds” and “people playing harps.” those are all really good blogs – should start reading those.

Guitar hero is a video game that hooks up a “guitar” (made esp for the game) and you play like a rock star.

My highlights: spending all week with daniel and my daughterS!
