twenty-one: snapshots

twenty-one-snapshots

My heart could use some African love right now… I guess I’ll have to settle for just looking at a snapshot—or twenty-one. These beautiful kids make my heart feel a little stronger.

Describe a snapshot of what your life looks like right now.

  1. beautiful pictures.

snapshot of my life: that’s really hard.

pastor was preaching and quoted charles dickens “it was the best of times and the worst of times”…seems appropriate. it’s frustrating how things can be so wonderful and so…frustrating at the same time.

I agree Danielle. I love begin with the boys here, but am struggling to be all here and enjoy it.

  3. Theresa says:

My snapshot is a 5×7 of hugs and kisses, of Craig and I with Hope and Ryan, a dog and a couple cats. Togetherness with a little dark corner that represents the struggle in life right now. But the most beautiful light shines through the rest of the picture captivating you as you look at it. It is God’s love pooring over us, protecting us, making sure that the dark corner grows no more.

Merry Christmas my Friend. Go look at my little Christmas tree on my blog. It has a memento in honor of you on it. :) I love your snapshots, Hope does too. She says you need to smile alot because you are beautiful. Gotta love her she is 13 going on 50.

I love the picture arrangement! Beautiful! How did you do it?

I’m not sure what my snapshot would look like….but I’m sure whatever was in it would be covered in SNOW. haha! ;-) Seriously, we’re drowning in snow here!

  5. Lisa says:

All. those. big. smiles. And smiling EYES, too. To think, Alece — you’re a significant part of the reason for that.

A snapshot of my life right now would be an overcast, gray day with a lot of clouds – and flashes of lightning.

(Sorry, not very Christmasy…. just tellin’ the truth.)

  6. Lisa says:

Oops, hope I didn’t say too much. It occured to me after hitting “submit” that um, maybe what you meant was a picture of what my life ACTUALLY looked like, not FELT like. Oops.

With that in mind, a picture of my life right now would be Rick and me watching TV and movies and eating a delicious Turkish-style kebap sandwich called a “doener” (like a gyro) by our little Christmas tree. :)

  7. A snapshot would be anything BUT Christmas, which is the one thing I wish it would be. I miss all the holiday festiveness, and my family of course. I would have to be like you and make a snapshot of what my heart needs….my family.

And also, I love your pictures…fantastic!

The feet are too cute. These pictures make up an amazing snapshot of love. You’re making me all teary-eyed. Good thing I have not put on mascara yet today.

My snapshot? Hmmm. Right now not very pretty: I just rolled out of bed. (Couldn’t sleep in on a day off!)

But of my life? Lots of smiles. Faces of those I love: family. friends. children. teenagers. Also there would be books representing my schoolwork, and a pile of laundry in there somewhere, representing how unfinished my housework always seems to be these days.

    Hmmm…

I wish I could have this snapshot above, each one of the photos represents HOPE…

Their hope reminds me of a new beginning in life of something new and fresh ahead of them…

    unchartered…

Loving Jesus because they know nothing else.

    ummm..yeah this snapshop will do..

love so amazing from a Savior :), writing more from the heart, grasping reality of the world in a gooood way, a beautiful family, friends, the beauty of all the small things that we miss out on when the life around us seems like it’s going really fast but all you wanna do is smile at all because you are taking life one step at a time, lazy days with good music, and just life is a snapshot in general if you make it one.

  11. hannahruthie says:

i would have to second what jace said. the pictures would be pictures of peace because right now is just a peaceful and enjoyable time in my life.

My precious starbucks mug just emptied of is fappaccino wonderfulness as an attempt to assuage the desire to be in my country of birth right now.

  13. gitz says:

When I see those little faces I start to think that if I could live in an alternate reality I would live wherever they are.

    Pure sweetness.

  14. Debra says:

Okay, all I can say is A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. … them and you, sweet Alece! How wonderful to share the love of God with those precious little people. Oh, I could just hug all of those sweet little faces, yours included! :)

My life right now … standing in His glory and working to keep my spiritual eyes focused on God’s truth and His words to me. Lot’s of changes going on around here … some very sad that hurt my heart but are also exciting in what the future holds for us. Some exhausting to walk through as we wait on God’s timing for complete healing. Some wading through and claiming what is truth and disregarding the rest. Oh, when God is birthing something new, it is exciting and painful all at the same time. But God … holds us in His hands and I know it will all be good. Loving on my giggling, excited girls waiting for Santa and, by God’s goodness, falling in love with my husband all over again! :)

Praying for you daily, sweet Alece. He is holding you in His hand as He births something amazing and new in you. How exciting!

K, I had to come and gaze at my Nkosi.

    mmmmm……

  16. alece says:

right now for me, my snapshot is this:

couching it with my best friend, comfortable enough to sit in silence and to share our hearts — all in one sitting. all-over-the-map thoughts running through my mind; so much to do and no energy to do any of it; can’t believe christmas is just days away.

no music is playing – which is odd for me, but not odd for me in the past two weeks. which is still odd TO me.

my lips are chapped. i need a haircut.

praying to feel God’s everlasting arms as i head off to sleep in a bit.

  17. Brandy says:

I just love you to pieces.

  18. Those beautiful smile reflect your smile, which reflects the Father’s smile…such a great picture.

My snapshot would probably be a huge creative hodgpodge mosaic of all the pieces of my life – work, church, family, homelife, my favourite things, my music stuff, my crafting…just all the good and all the lousy all together – one glorious patchwork type thing.

  19. alece says:

everyone’s snapshots are beautiful. messy, yes. but they are all beautiful.

  20. bradruggles says:

Those pictures are so beautiful. What an awesome collage.

What does my life look like right now? If you could capture a snapshot it would look like a sail boat out in the middle of the sea as it is turning. Right before it catches the wind from the new directions the waves flop back and forth and the boat sits still until it catches the new wind and comes about (sailing lingo).

That’s where we’re at, waiting on God and preparing to come about.

  21. Amy Joy says:

    THABO! :)

  22. faithstart says:

a cliff, a long fall waiting to happen, and me standing on the edge… still standing.

  23. We just got back from the Transkei and are tired but not ready for bed because our brains are wired and full of all the everythings. We handed out 150 school shoes and more more more buckets. Christmas time here is more wild then I could have imagined. I think South Africans maybe use their “holiday” time as an excuse to act wild. We saw more police out and stops then I have see the whole time we have lived here. Insane in the membrane. Anyways…

  24. alece says:

faith — i’m pulling you off that cliff. can you feel me?

apple pie — i know exactly what you’re talking about!
