twenty-five: of december

This year, I’m struggling to find Christ in Christmas. Not in the “Of course He’s the reason for the season” kind of way, but in the “He’s working evidently in my life” sort of way.

Yet I know He’s there. Just like the wise men knew as they followed a star toward what they could not see.

I’m choosing once again today, just as the magi did, to follow hard after Him. Even when I don’t see, or feel, or—at times—even believe.

The words of a friend have been marinating in my heart and mind all week: God wasn’t in the hurt, but He will be in the healing.

That’s the whole point of December twenty-five, isn’t it? That’s the essence of Christmas right there—God reaching down to bring us healing. Coming to us when we couldn’t come to Him.

I think I just found Christ in Christmas. I’m glad you were along for the journey.

Sometimes I forget how big He is… That I don’t need to say anything more than, “I don’t know what to say, God.” And that’s enough for Him in that moment… the fact that I spoke at all.

I’m just glad you choose to speak. Merry Christmas.

“He came down to bring us healing.” I’ve never heard it said like that. How powerful. He has – and He will.

This blog entry helped me to find Christ in Christmas even more, too. Merry Christmas, Alece.

    Merry Christmas!

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” It does my heart SO MUCH good to know that it was Jesus who said that. His GREAT love for us … not in our perfection, but in our brokenness. When we couldn’t do a thing to deserve Him … when we still can’t … HE comes down to US. HE bestowes on us what no one else in the universe would … unrelenting, unimaginable, lavish love. He’s giddy for us. The real us. Not the ‘perfect’ us. This blows my mind ………

    You are loved.

  11. Friend,

This was a great post. Reminded me of the Psalms…starting off defeated and thanking God into peace.

    I love you. Merry Christmas.

Sometimes following hard after him is just hard. I am glad to know that you found words to bolster you in the blizzard and keep you moving forward. Even though through the swirling flakes and howling wind we are not visible, we are here. I am here. thank you for allowing us to walk along with you.

mmm… i love you, friends. thanks.

  16. I’m willing to bet some of the days and nights while those magi were travelling there were clouds in the sky and they couldn’t see the star.

“Your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

  17. alece says:

if it’s contingent on my faith right now to make me well, i’m in big trouble. i’m glad God’s grace carries me when my faith is weak.
