safety first

Over the years, Niel has always teased me about my love for my laptop. He’s referred to it as my “baby” more times than I can count.

But I think Niel’s issues far outweigh mine in this department.

Yesterday he carried the laptop case out to the car as we were loading things up. I climbed into the front seat, turned around, and saw this:

    SHAMEFUL!!!!

so. i probably treat my guitar the way you treat your laptop!

i was always told that laptops are like babies… you should drop neither. therefore, i think that niel’s actions are not only justifiable but that possibly he has learned to care for and respect that which is so near and dear to you.

    OR

he is mocking you in a very funny and provoking manner which deserves something fantastically over-the-top-make-you-pee-your-pants-cause-you-laughed-so-hard funny. this is fun… how can we tease niel. i’ll have to think about that for a bit.

Need to tell us anything? :)

  5. If that laptop’s under five years old it should be in a baby-carriage Neil – A BABY-CARRIAGE, MAN!!!

    Parents these days – Sheesh!

Shouldn’t it be in a “rear facing” car seat?

  9. alece says:

it,s not about alece,s precious bag… it,s about these freakin americano drivers…. short stops. close pull outs and just dumb driving make me miss those african drivers.
cant wait to ducktape kids facing to the back to the seats..

As you insurance claims adjuster, do you insurance on the “child” . That seat belt should have child restraints anchors on them. Here in San Diego, I see a $700.00 fine coming your way. Ha!! Ha!!

  12. Becca says:

    Niel,
You’re going to duct tape your kids to the seat?
    Wow.

I hope you become parents soon. I’d really like to see that.

  13. alece says:

    meee, too!

(possibly this is reason #917 that we DON’T have kids!)

  14. danielhodgson says:

we always keep our children in backpacks strapped in the back seat whenever we travel. is that not normal?

  15. This is so funny! Our cat Trucker was our BABY till our real baby came along! We use to dress him in little cat shirts and take him in the car on trips to MI. He once went camping with us!! Now he’s lucky if we remember to fill his food and water and change his litter. We had to steel my brothers cat to keep him company. So you see once you have a REAL baby everything and everyone becomes so much less important!!
It’s wonderful believe me, it puts EVERYTHING into proper perspective.

  16. alece says:

daniel — watch it! you’re giving niel ideas!

  17. Where is the computer’s blankie?

  18. alece says:

did you have a blankie as a kid, talia?

i did. but my most prized possession for a way-too-long length of time was a stuffed puppy. he was aptly named “pupda”.

i used to make paper-towel diapers for him and change him regularly throughout the day.

once, when i opened him up for his change, i discovered… POOP! yes, pupda pooped! i was elated and ran running to my mom to show her.

turns out my dad had shoved some raisins into pupda’s diaper.

(i wonder if this has anything to do with my aversion to all-things raisin… hmph…)

  19. RAISINS?!?! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL!!!!!

    OH – HEY NIEL!!!!!!

  20. alece says:

ha ha. i’m glad you liked that story! my dad’s a goof.

  21. Becca says:

    The truth comes out.
She hates raisins because of that.

Raisins might be showing up in random places more often now that I know this fact.

  22. Megan says:

i just have this image of miniature niels and aleces duct taped in a back seat….bahahaha.

  23. alece says:

    that is scary.

    on so many levels.

  24. roo says:

hahaha! so true. frightening, really. but amazingly amusing nonetheless. i AM surprised to see niel poked his head into the world of blogging for a bit. even if it was to bash on us americanos. ;)
‘lece, secret: tengo una blankie. ahora. esta aqui, conmigo. la me gusta mucho.

  25. alece says:

is your blankie from when you were just a wee thing, roobix-cube?

  26. TheNorEaster says:

    Umm…My dog doesn’t even use a seatbelt.

  27. alece says:

    gotta protect our baby!
