my day
April 16, 2008
- Woke up a few minutes before my alarm went off, which is always a good thing in my book. (If I can avoid hearing that obnoxious beep-beep-beep-beep, my day is already off to a much better start.)
- Ate a toasted bagel for breakfast. (Not a huge deal to most of you, but since I live in a bagel-less nation, it’s a massive deal to me!)
- Left on-time for the airport (a little early even) and discovered a new Starbucks in the terminal once we checked in. (Yay for chai bliss.)
- On our layover in Philly, I somehow managed to spill an enormous beverage all over myself. (How do I do these sorts of things???)
- After a “plane maintenance delay”, we finally made it into Detroit and got to our host home around 10 PM. (I slept through the majority of both flights, by the way.)
- Answered urgent work emails, caught up on blogs, wrote a few personal emails. (Now I’m off to bed. Long day tomorrow!)
Good night John Boy!

Goodnight baby Beecy!
Don’t let the bed bugs bite……..yeah.
John Boy! Your so cute!!!!! I will be in Grand Rapids tomorrow. So close but so far.
Thanks for the updates, Alece, so we know how you guys are doing (and can smile at things like your enjoying a toasted bagel). :)
Praying……
I am devastated over the lost chai. Dang!!

You know that wonderful emotional cocktail of living vicariously through the experiences of another and suffering from a twinge of jealousy? That is where I am at right now as I read about toasted bagels. Ohhh my mouth is literally watering and I am licking my lips as I type. It is a HUGE deal. :-)
ohhhhh… wish i could send you one, gigi!
Chai = nasty. nasty. NASTY.
airplane = my favorite thing EVER.
really?! you’re missing out. what’s your hot frothy beverage of choice?
(oh, and airplane = my favorite nap locale)
Planes are fabulous places to sleep.
We are in the SAME STATE!!!!

so glad you had your bagel and chai. so sorry your drink got you. i’m know for those kinds of feats as well.
have a good, effective, favor-ful, chai-ful Michigan day.
I’ll see you in…2.5 Michigan days!

We’re almost in the same time zone!

I love that you are enjoying so many “little” pleasures… enjoy them to the fullest :)
BTW, what did your family think of your new look?
I love you Kitty…
Yay for the bagel. :) I not only know how much Americans love their bagels, but even more-so, how much New Yorkers have a jealously-fight-for-their-bagels-with-tooth-and-nail love. :D Happy for you.
you had a layover in philly….gaaah….. you’re killing me with how close you are. the fact that you’re in the country! and i can’t do anything! *sigh* i hope you’re having an amazing time!
I hate wakin up before my alarm.
There are two kinds of people in this world – those who CAN nap/sleep on a plane, and those who just can’t! :-( ( most of my trps have been in the 5 hours PLUS category. First one lasted for 30 hours – including airport changovers / refuelling stops (no ‘delays’).
(Ok 3 types really – those who have never even BEEN on a plane and are not very likely to either in their lifetimes – these are actually the VAST majority of humans! – so they are probably worth ‘remembering’) :-)
<B
KA — thankfully it wasn’t the chai i spilled all over me… especially since i order it extra hot!
i got a huge hug from natalie last night. and i’m sitting with her at panera right now. i can’t tell you how good this is for my heart.
this is my first time online since yesterday morning, and i only have 10 minutes before we run out the door to the next meeting. and i’m heading offline to spend my last few minutes with my friend.
SORRY! missed the question!!!!
favorite? depends… sometimes coffee-drinks aren’t nice to me. so, depending on what my life/stress/stomach is like: either a hot tea or mocha or hot chocolate.
i’m easy to please… really.
:)
SOOOO glad you are with friends. makes me SO happy!!!
and i can so totally sleep on a plane. the whirring knocks me out.
@coloraturajoy says:
yay for waking up before the alarm!!! i HATE that sound.

good night alece.
It was a fantastic hug. I’m glad I got to be a part of this day, even though it’s not the one you originally posted about.
mandy – i’ve become a huge tea drinker. when i first moved to SA, we didn’t have a coffee pot. most of south africa (at the time anyway) embraced instant coffee… i just couldn’t do it. so i switched to tea. now i’m hooked. milk, no sugar. mmmm… just right.
joy renee – i’m glad you’re with me on the hateage of the alarm.
good night pete.
talia — that surprise hug was soooo good. i’m sad at this teaser of a visit and the thought that i won’t see you for 2 more months. but the next visit will be… wow.
(oh and kitty — from way back up there — my family seems to like my new do. they particularly like my record-breaking bedhead!)
