me in your inbox!
Do you get my email newsletter?
I send one out each month with updates on what’s happening at Thrive Africa. I figured you might want to hear what God’s doing in our corner of the world. And since we’re getting ready to send out July’s update in the next few days, I thought you might want to sign up if you don’t already get it.
That’s it. Just a plug for Thrive Africa!

Hm – I just had an idea of making a new page on my blog that is a gallery with an invitation to click through… like a glorified link list / get to know you ditty. Hmm… I will have to stew about that one.
@atangie says:
I also want a game on my blog – - – but I think I need a larger readership base for it to fly. any thoughts?
that browse through could be fun… push wordpress for a “next” button and it’ll be even more awesome.
and i love the game idea. i always have fun with it on mine. i’ve had too much to say in recent weeks to get in a good round of anything – hopefully soon i’ll be mute enough to play jabberwacky or bunkum. i think you could pull it off. your readership seems to be growing.
@atangie says:
and what you have had to say has been so pertinent and timely.
@mandythompson says:
LAUGHING!!!
LAUGHING!!!
LAUGHING!!!
can you come see me fiz-ast???!
thanks, angie.
and mandy – i’m so glad i made you laugh that much! i’ll be there in a jiffy!
@atangie says:
Do you know I have been reading your gritty glory for over a year now?
amazing!
did you know i’ve been blogging for going on 3 years now?! those early years were not NEARLY as fun. plus… who even read it back then?!?! ha!
@atangie says:
hm, interesting. I have been at it for a year and a half.
Your blog is one of the funnest spots online, girl! You are good at creating culture.
I am sure you had some faithful readers back then.
i love the sense of community that’s developed over here at the G&G. i wouldn’t trade it for anything!
@atangie says:
The best part is that the ambiance changes as you walk through the seasons of your life. Never a boring moment.
I have thoroughly enjoyed these extra chats since you have been in the States. When ever I get to wondering what it will be like when you are back in SA i just say to myself that we will be enjoying yet another leg of the G&G journey.
yeah – i’m really going to miss being online this much and being in the same time hemisphere (if not zone!) as so many of my friends!
aaah… let there be grace when i get there.
@atangie says:
amen chica
grace for us all
I do say that I am quite addicted to my daily Alece fix. :-)
:BLUSH:
@atangie says:
duty calls. which is something entirely different than the call nature makes. :-)
Might catch you tonight when DaRonn is at his bowling championship. Tonight and Thursday and it is all over. Right now he is in first by 6 points. The third place person is trailing by 150 points. So he is still neck in neck with his buddy Max. Should be interesting this evening.
bowling? Nice.
I say we all kidnap Alece and don’t let her go. Yes. That’s reasonable.
@cassgirl says:
Signed me up!!!
I want to be knowin where my prayers are goin
@mandythompson says:
@ng:
the first time i read that, i read …the AMBULANCE CHACES as you …
i think i’m having a bad day.
angie — the pressure’s mounting with this bowling championship. keep us posted! ;-)
BM & Heidi — kidnapped, eh? hmm. i wouldn’t be opposed to that.
mandy — hope your day got better than an ambulance chase.
hey, my man is amazing! I already get the amazing letters, but I guess you now know that I don’t share very well. lesson learned.
he was the first one to sign up… which made me smile!
oh, and he’s fiz-ast b/c he’s a super hero cleverly disguised as a pastor.
we love us some alece!
that is aMAZing!
now i’ve really got to meet you guys!
as of next week, we’ll have PLENTY of room…5 additional rooms to fill, my friend! You’ll have your pick!
tell me about your house, friend!
oh, it’s so beautiful! our friends are having us do a long-term house sitting thing for them…it’s honestly the ONLY time we will ever live in a house this garguntuous: over 3200 sq ft and a finished 2000+ finished basement! AHHHH-mazing!
Have i convinced you to come yet???
you’re house-sitting it? for how long? where are they going?!?!
i can’t wait to come!
until they sell their house! Could be one month, could be 5 years! who knows!!! They’re in the same boat as we are…house in a completely different city than you live. It’s so stinkin awesome! Mark even talked about a mini-blog-reunion of sorts at the house!
oh stinkbug.
the atlantic ocean is gonna come between us pretty soon, ya know…
(i’m really really excited for you guys! what a blessing!)
when are you leaving me?
leaving on a jet plane…
…on september 6.
so…you’ll have an entire month to get your “arse” up here! :)
do you feel tugged in a billion different directions? I feel like that when I go back to fla for christmas, and that’s only one city…how do you do that on a national scale?
but here’s the dilemma…
next weekend – DC (!!!)
next next weekend – my grandma’s funeral
next next next weekend – surgery
next next next next weekend – recovery
next next next next next weekend – flying back to SA!
ok, so can’t we nix the surgery, seriously, girlfriend, where’s your priorities?
and i do feel tugged in a billion different directions. and the fact that my husband doesn’t totally “get” my blogging “life” would make it a bit tricky to convince him that a weekend in ohio with “strangers” is more important than evicting cheech and chong.
Yay, just signed up … about the whole time zone thing, when you go back, you’ll have at least one blog buddy in your new time zone :) just an hour apart I think.
yay for someone close to my time zone!!! :-) thanks, birgit!
@danielleH says:
i already get it. like you didnt know that!!
you’ve been a faithful reader of all-things alece for a long time, friend. angie and i were chatting about how i’ve been blogging for almost 3 years now, and i remarked how few people actually read my blog way back then… you were one of the pioneers with me! :-)
sorry for the long delay in responding! sleep called louder! :)
But tell cheech and chong that i’m mad at them.
that makes two of us!
i’ll don camo gear and we’ll make a fortress, k?
sounds good!
@tamhodge says:
i missed the party.
:(
but i signed up!
yay!!!!
thanks for signing up, tamster!
