i saw esau in me
June 11, 2009
I can scoff at the foolishness of Esau, who sold his inheritance for a meal. But I often trade what God has for me for equally frivolous things.
Pleasure. Safety. Control. Immediacy.
Ugh.
Lord, I want to hold out for what You’ve promised. For it is always better than whatever else I may choose.

Sheesh, can you stop kicking me in the teeth please? Thank you for being so honest.

i have, sad to say, always related to esau’s story.
i always feel like that can so be me…. because i forget how great my inheritance is when compared with the trash that i seek in this world.
like chris said, thanks for the honesty. because it gives us a little nudge to keep on being honest, too.
True that.
That’s tough to hear because it’s so true.

YES!!!
I think we all see at least parts of ourselves in ALL of the people written about in the Bible. That’s what makes it so remarkable… we can relate to them all – the good, the bad, the indifferent… because they are all of them human. As are we. As are we, my friend.
Well said sweet friend. Well said.
@danielleH says:
oooh. so good.
i’ve been thinking about that “safety” lately.
Hmmm. oh yes. all too often. give up what is eternal for that which we can see now. :(
Wow that’s good! And just affected the way I view a few things…
