i have pms
I’m alive!
My tonsillectomy went well on Friday. Aside from the minutes when I couldn’t breathe as they tried to wake me from the anesthesia and my puke-fest after they wheeled me into recovery, everything went smoothly. (Sheesh!) I was at the hospital for quite a few hours more than originally planned (because of the aforementioned mishaps), and have been mostly horizontal since I got home.
My man has been a wonderful form of PMS—he’s my Pain Management Specialist. He’s taking such good care of me, keeping me hydrated and as doped up as I’m legally allowed to be. He also bought the boxed set of Friends for us to watch during my recovery. Between eating ice-pops and applesauce, drinking lots of slushy iced tea, and taking liquid med-hell-ication, we’ve already watched the first 1.5 seasons.

Alece, I am glad that they finally got you awake. Not to make light of the very serious not being able to breathe bit… but maybe your body was finally enjoying the complete rest that it want to stay that way.
I am SO hoping that this tonsillectomy was the key to getting you healthy enough to be able to knock out the fatigue so that you can rest.

Glad the surgery went well. I didn’t know you were having surgery but I’ll pray that your recovery is speedy! I’ve got to get back into my daily routine of “the grit”! Love you!
So glad to see you are feeling better! I am a bit jealous that you have the Friends boxed set. My husband and I have been talking about getting it for quite awhile now and we just haven’t done it. I am picking it up soon, very soon! :)

Yuck…I hate anything that deal with anestesia(sp?),
I remember I had 4 wisdom teeth that had to be taken out, but only 2 could be done at a time according to my insurance, so I had to be put under twice…first time I woke up fine, 2nd time…I REALLY was okay staying in lala land…

I am happy to hear you are recovering, but sorry about your “puke-fest”. Your are lucky to have such an expert “pain management specialist”. I am sure you both could think up some “horizontal” exercises while you are recovering.
It’s my perception that Friends is mostly a chick show, so I am very impressed Niel sat through 1.5 seasons worth of shows with you. Was that show popular in SA? What does your PMS think of Friends.

I am sure it was intentional on your part and I am just a few days behind in noticing … but just ask Roo … her dad can sometimes buy a tractor and park it on the farm and I might not notice for awhile! (Maybe I use up all my attention to detail at work – I am not sure!!)

Puking is normal… I remember as a child having my adnoids taken out and being half awake and barfing right away. They were ready for it and had the bed pan next to me and held it for me. I remember it well actually. It seems i remember it being a mix of the anethesia and the fact they were just messing with your gagger in the back of your throat to take out your tonsils or in my case my adnoids.
Glad you are doing ok. Sorry about the meds. I am not one for those pain meds. I will skip them if I can get away with it.
Hope you recover quickly…. Sad you are heading back to SA soon and I didn’t even get to meet you. :( Wahh!!!

That Chandler always cracks me up but really I LOVE them all! I wish I was a clean freak like Monica! And I love one of her lines in one of the seasons “I wish I had Ross’s parents!” That cracks me up, because they are siblings! I use that on my sister all the time. “I wish I had your parents!” It’s funny but so true!
ed — the doctor said no rigorous activity for 2 weeks. GASP!
and… niel does seem to enjoy Friends. neither of us have ever really watched the show, only caught random episodes here and there. (it runs in SA, just sporadically)
roo’s mom — really?! you can see ‘em?! that was so not planned. point them out for me!
anna — they actually said i was throwing up because of all the morphine on an empty stomach… and by the way, they took out my adenoids too!
