    I can do all things…

Surely I Am with you always…

Never will I leave you or forsake you…

My heart hears security and joy.

  2. gitz says:

My heart hears you. Hearing me. My favorite quote of all time. Love you.

  3. Such sweet reassurance in that quote~ reminds me that my deepest fears and my most heart-breaking struggles are in His hands at all times. All I need to do is rest in Him when I am laboring for His kingdom, and also rest in the fact that when I am not, He still is, always.

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”
    2nd Chronicles 16:9

  4. I just came from reading a Joseph Prince devotional on ‘Do not worry about tomorrow’, where he ends with this thought for today:

God gives you all the help you need for today. When tomorrow comes, so will fresh help from Him.

THAT’S what I heard in this quote ….. esp the line: “Go to sleep in peace. God is awake.”

I LIKE that… esp with the painful stuff rocking my emotions recently.

  5. Deb Owen says:

    ‘Awesome!’

Juvenile, I know. Not eloquent, I know. But ‘go to sleep in peace, God is awake’ struck me with such a sense of refuge, peace, and trust that the part of the quote about the sorrows just seemed overshadowed.

    Thanks for this!
    Love!

  6. dan says:

Don’t go to sleep until you have “laboriously accomplished your daily task.”

    Psalm 132:1-5

  7. Michael says:

That I need to relax and just trust.

  8. michelle says:

    beautiful quote.

    what i hear.
    to rest.
    to stop.
    and especially to trust.

  9. Jason says:

When I read your question, the thought that came into my head is “I got this” with the I being Him not me. :)

  10. Jenny says:

    courage
    patience
    labor

three things I struggle with when the going gets tough

  11. Ellie says:

“When you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace”

My heart today hears “when you have finished your task, go to sleep in peace”. Grieving today for friends whose task was finished long before we thought it would be. Yet, God knew they had accomplished what He sent them for. He was awake. He was there. And He welcomed them into His presence.

We grieve. But He was awake, and He remains the same – good, loving, wise. And yet tender with us in our grief.

  12. George Calif says:

Things may be difficult now, but they will get easier.

  13. Melissa says:

You have complete security in ME. You can stand in everything and find rest because you are IN ME. Don’t let the devil, the world and your flesh get you wrapped up in worry, instead come. Come and sit at My feet, breathe in My presence and rest. I’m always on call.

  14. herbhalstead says:

“Be still and know that I am God.”

  15. Love this. There’s gotta be a song in it.

  16. Melissa says:

    Sooo 2 things

    1) Why tear someone down? If you are in a place of authority to rebuke, scripture tells us to do so privately. If you have been wronged, choose love and seek reconcilation with Alece yourself.

    2) I hope you know how much Jesus loves you. I’m completely sincere in this.

      says:

May I gently suggest that it doesn’t seem completely fair that you expect Alece to give all and every detail for everything she does or doesn’t do, but describe your own reasoning for “calling her out” as “cannot be fully explained”?

I am sorry that some people wrote in such a way that appeared (or was blatantly) rude and un-Christlike, and hurt your heart. You will be in my prayers today.

  17. RJ says:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

  18. gothiquefae says:

“I will lift my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.” ~Psalm 121:1-3

We can rest easy, He’s not going to fall asleep at the wheel.

    Love ya!

    G

  19. “God is awake.”

When I need to rest, I’m thankful that he’s still wide awake. He’s awake to protect me, awake to guide me, awake to be attentive to me, and awake to hold me and love me.

  20. Morgan says:

My heart hears that God is forever protecting me and loving me so I can fulfill his plan.

**side note**you are an amazing individual! I know we haven’t officially met, but I love you and your heart so much!!

  21. My heart says, “Your heart is safe in my hands. Rest in peace, my child, knowing I have you in the palm of my hand and I am never letting go.”

  22. Lisa says:

    My heart hears this:

There will be great sorrows in life. Keep your hand to the plow. Work as unto Me.

I am watching over you, even as you sleep. You are Mine. I never slumber. I am fully awake. I am fully aware. I am watching. I see everything.

I am Truth. I know the truth. Rest in Me.

  23. what i hear in this statement is that the sorrows of life are not conquered overnight.
i should respond to those necessitating courage with all i have, and with patience to those less urgent and more nagging, but i should realize for all of them that God will tend to them after i’ve done all i can do. therefore, i can sleep peacefully.

that reminds me of psalm 4:8: i will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone make me dwell in safety.

  24. Joy says:

This reminds me to trust God. I’ve been grieving about the people recently killed in Afghanistan (Tom Little, Dan Terry, etc.)…and I can trust God that He will sustain their families and the good work they were doing… Because God is awake and He sees all that happens. And He knows the number of our days and will help us to accomplish what He has for each of us to do during our lifetime.

  25. Laura says:

For me, the crux of this quote is wrapped up in the sentence “God is awake.” Hugo acknowledges that both big sorrows and small disappointments are difficult – neither courage nor patience come easily. At the end of the day, whether I’m dealing with big problems or just doing my job (& dealing with the normal frustrations that come with it – whatever that job may be), it’s so easy to wonder “Does anybody hear? Does anybody see? Does anybody CARE?”
Yes. Nothing is in vain, because God is awake. He sees. He knows. He loves.
Psalm 121 is all about God as our keeper – “He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” And because God does not need rest, I can rest in Him.
Thanks so much for reminding me of this truth, Alece! God bless.

  26. annie says:

I hear peace. So much peace.

And Alece, anon up there damages no one but himself. (Yes I’m assuming on gender. I could be wrong.) I’m so sorry you have to bear the brunt of something like that. Just know that I support YOU, and because of YOU, Thrive. I believe in the work of God in the earth, but I believe in people far more. I whole-heartedly support YOU, in whatever capacity I can, whether physical, emotional, financial, mental, spiritual, or otherwise. I don’t even care if you swear, smoke, drink, do drugs, go skinny dipping, or listen to rock and roll.

And if Thrive fell apart, I would still support you.

  27. Christine says:

    I hear:

God is awake. He is holding everything together, and He cares about my sorrows, great and small. He sees them. He carries them. And He wants to give me rest. He calls me to find rest and peace in Him–to let go, knowing that He is awake and that I can sleep. And when I wake up in the morning, my sorrows may still be there, but so is He.

  28. Bindu says:

    Alece….

Just got back from Ethiopia and this post reminds me of a lot of the emotions I feel coming home and what happens next.
