four-minute friday: stink and the sharks
I’ve had a blast watching Shark Week. (Anyone else hooked??) My favorite is watching the great whites leap out of the water as they attack. Have you seen it? Incredible! I’ve also loved all the footage of South Africa. Did you know the SA coast is the third deadliest in the world because of all the shark attacks? Mmhmmm. It’s true.
My ten-year-old buddy Stink has watched a bunch of episodes with me. And let me tell you, it is SO fun watching with him. He is intrigued and freaked out at the same time, and alternates between wide-eyed wonder and running out of the room.
And he says the funniest stuff.
Convo 1
Me: Are you scared?
Stink: Yeah. But I’ll take it like a man.
Convo 2
Me: Do you want to come sit with me?
Stink: (slowly pulling his head out from under the pillow) No, I’ll be alright.
He glanced up at the TV, saw blood, and dove off his chair to the floor right by my feet.
Me: Do you want to sit with me now?
Stink: Not yet. Gettin’ close to it, though.
Yeah. Between Stink and the sharks, it’s been an entertaining week. And my heart just swelled when mid-show he looked over and said, “I love watching TV with you.”
Yessss! It only took some appendage-severing to win him over!
Done.

Boys… lol. I’m glad you’re having fun and making good memories with little buddies :)

ok. what is this shark week that I keep hearing about??? Clue me in! You know, I’ve only had 2 major fears in my life: sharks and crocs! Once when I lived in Rio, there was a shark sighting in the water and I was afraid to go surfing for like 3 weeks after….it took a lot to get me to go back in. I don’t like em so much!

Mo, I wondered the same thing. Anyone out there can correct me… but from what I understand it is one full week on the Discovery channel of nothing but shark programs.
My nine year old boy is the same way about blood. Hates it.
Fun! I know Andrew would have loved it, but prob a bit early to start him out on Shark Week eh? :)
I’m too consumed with watching *blush* So You Think You Can Dance. But it’s educational, too! REALLY. I mean, how many people actually know what the Paso-Doble is?

SOOOOO jealous you’re getting to watch shark week! And, your story about Stink made me laugh out loud… even as I sit here in Nando’s having a date with myself while Katie has the kids for a bit. HA!
Shark Week is a discovery channel can’t-miss-it hit… one week a year they do tons of shark programing that totally rocks (or bites…)
@mallyflip says:
I LOVE shark week. It is one of my favorite times to watch tv alllll summer long! My favorite part is when they test the beaches to see how dangerous they are, you know like sticking a man in a metal cage and sticking his arm out with a piece of tuna for the shark.
Brilliant.
although participating in shark week is against my religion…or plain old human principle…i do love that little stink of yours! hope to see (both of) you!!!
p.s…still blinking.

I loved this post! And I like your 4 min logo.
What a fun story you told.
Me: Do you want to sit with me now?
Stink: Not yet. Gettin’ close to it, though.
Best conversion I have read in a long time. Blood & guts, the way to a boys heart.
I love watching animals, on TV, aquariums, the beach, park or the backyard. After watching “Jaws” however I will never again put one toe in the ocean. No way, no how.
“Blood & guts, the way to a boys heart.”
Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!
And he sure got to hers, too!
saw a hippo today in the same dam that we saw one in the year you came with me on os debriefing. i thought of you and missed you. henry my hippo friend says ‘hi’
@gritandglory says:
i LOVE seeing hippos on safari!
We all need a little Stink in our lives.
Wait a minute………………
“Are you scared?” “Yeah, but I’ll take it like a man.”
I think I need to be more like Stink!!
@cassgirl says:
Can you send some stink to my house, I need some company??
Oh my goodness. I’m so glad you had the opportunity to laugh so hard. I would have too. That’s priceless.
