four-minute friday: spider-webbing

four-minute friday 2Go.

This is how my brain works. I call it spider-webbing:

I bought a pumpkin spice candle today for my room. Because it smells like autumn, my favorite season.

I’ve always said my beloved chai tastes like autumn in a cup. Mmmm…

While fall is my favorite official season, my favorite unofficial one is from the launch of Starbucks’ red cups of happiness until Christmas. Mmhmmm. I just mentioned Christmas on my blog. And it’s only September.

I used to love buying school supplies. I’ve been fighting the urge to buy a pack of really good pens, but maybe I should since I lost one of my favorites this week. It rolled out of reach under a couch occupied by people talking about country music.

I’m heading to Nashville next week. For the first time ever. (‘Cause layovers don’t count.) And I’m all chuckles because it was my childhood dream to live there. Why? I wanted to live near Amy Grant.

I haven’t listened to Amy Grant in years.

I just removed Michael W. Smith from my iPod. Sorry all you still-adoring fans. I just couldn’t do it anymore.

A friend video’d herself singing a worship song she wrote, and sent it to me. A few others sent me video messages this week as well. Did you know you could do that with that handy talk to me link up there? You can. I think you should.

I’m actually thinking of maybe making a video for an upcoming Four-Minute Friday. Waddayathink? What would you want me to ramble about for four whole minutes here on the Grit?!

Anyone out there know someone who might want to build a customized blog for this missionary? I figure it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Speaking of dustbunnies… Oh dangit! Out of time.

Done.

I’ve never thought as chai as autumn in a cup, but I like that thought. :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE office supplies. I too used to love shopping for school supplies. I rarely need office supplies, but when I shop – wow, it’s exhilarating. I am totally and completely in love with the PhD Multi pens. I’m a pen FREAK!!! My husband, when we had only known each other for a short while (and we were years from dating), bought me a bouquet of pens. He made the ‘pen bouquet’ himself. I wish I had a picture of it, but he must have spent $50 on pens and even more on the pen holder. So sweet.

Lol! Chai= Autumn in a cup…sigh…so very true! Alece..have I ever told you..I. Love.you! I think you should video on the catalyst of your obsession with St. Arbucks! Start at the beginning and end at the end or whenever time runs out :D! Nashville…you shall have to tell me what you think. We went there a couple of years ago with stars in our eyes and it wasn’t quite what I expected. We did get to go to the Grand Ole Opry, not in use at the time of course, but still pretty cool!
I am very curious as to how your favorite pen rolled under a couch with people talking about country music on it… Were you neglecting your pen? Was it feeling a bit melancholy and just needed some time alone? Or were you fighting and it didn’t really like what you wanted to write? I’m just sayin..for the love of your favorite pen, why did you not crawl on your knees, displace the country music talkin folks and bring your pen back into the safety of your embrace?!?! Hh…hhh….huh?!? I’m sorry I think I just blacked out..what were we saying?
Oh yeah, fall is my absolutest favorite time of year too! ;D!!!

I think I would have gotten down on my hands and knees and with my but up in the air gotten the pen! I can’t tell you how many pacifiers and sippy cups I have gone after making a total spectical of my self especially when in heals and very snug jeans or even worse, in a dress with my butt sticking out (yet another good reason to wear clean/sexy panties!). But back to pens. I don’t often use pens and if I do they have to be ball point. I love using these scrapbooking markers with a fat end and a skinny end. They are ZIG Memory System writer and they come in a million colors and add a special touch to whatever your writing. My fav time is from now through xmas, like fall and red cup seasons combined. But last winter being so bitter both in cold and in my life I’m not so sure I’m ready for it again. Especially since summer was cloudy and less than hot, it just feels to soon for fall. I’m with you on Amy and Michael! I don’t even like his worship stuff anymore it annoys me but come winter its all Amy Grant christmas music! I think after nashville you should plan a trip up to Chicago! Its a beautiful city with great shopping and me! What more could you ask for? No but if you ever make it back up north, you have a warm cozy red room waiting for you. Love you!

    • oh my dang! y’all were crackin’ me up with these!

i gotta admit, i do like amy grant christmas. and i do have some of that in my iTunes… it’s just not on my iPod yet. a tad early, ya know?

if only chicago weren’t so dang far from atlanta, i’d gladly make a roadtrip!

  5. Love, love, love the spider web. Boy, do I relate. I have often had to explain to my husband how I got from point A in the conversation to point D. I get it.

  6. thank you Charlotte!! that was so awesome! i have been praying a long time for you to see the light on michael dubz!

  7. Becca says:

    The question is. . .
You may have removed Michael w. Smith (did you have his old school stuff? Cus those were AMAZING. “Go west Young Man….” fake drums entering…. now!), BUT. . . Did you remove Angela Lansbury?

  8. Jace Sauble says:

yessss of course i will; lunga and nkosi/ all of them are so freaking BIG.

and thank God michael smith has gone away…shame..”ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST….DOOO, DO DO…ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST”

    i loveeeeee you more

  10. annie says:

haha. I think the video is a great idea. :)

  11. Debra says:

Oh my goodness, I am glad I’m not the only spider-webber! :)

I LOVE St. Arbuck’s but I don’t like coffee, so I usually drink tea … hot tea in winter (some really yummy tart berry one they have) and cold tea in the summer (green tea, iced tea lemonade sweetened).

I am quite confident that, being “bold” (as my girlfriend in NC would say to me when I lived there for a really long year … why bold, you ask? because I went in the boys bathroom that was empty instead of peeing my pants waiting to get into the girls bathroom which has a mile-long line) that I would have just moved on over there and rescued my favorite pen from beneath the country-music fans couch.

As for Michael W. Smith, never have been a real fan of his, however, I do love the song, “Healing Rain,” so until someone else puts it out I will have to listen to him sing it.

Nashville sounds like big fun … cool weather, great friends, Amy Grant … what more could you ask for? Have a fantabulous trip sister!

And, you are clearly more computer savvy than me because I couldn’t figure out how to do a video … bummer, because that would be fun. Oh well, I KNOW I would enjoy one of you on Friday, especially after all the talk about your combination accent … dying to hear that! :)

    Love you!

  12. Chai cream frappacino with cinnamon dolce sprinkled in the frap mix, blended until you can’t blend it anymore so there aren’t any ice chucks, topped with whipped cream and cinnamon dolce sprinkles — since you mentioned chai and Christmas, I thought I’d let you in on a little secret that a friend of Mallory’s told me. It’s called Christmas and it really does taste like Christmas. I hope you enjoy!

PS Still have Michael on my ipod… maybe he needs to go this next week before I start college.

  13. faith says:

Ok you all got me thinking on michaels oldies and I want to hear them now. Those were good but not a fan of his new stuff. Alece just so you know, every weekend I go through a little g&g withdraw . I might just have to comment a bunch on this one till monday. I might try out the video message even though I HATE my voice, but for you I might just do it. Also we need to plan a late night blog comment chat again with all the fun late nighters. Those were great though I would be pretty slow since I’m on the bb touch. Speaking of, do you use your phone for checking up on your blog? I love that your sight has a phone friendly mode.

  14. Adriane says:

    haha! so funny reading this!

sometimes I’ll be sitting and thinking and 20 minutes later realize that i was trying to decide what I was going to have for dinner and somehow go to the subject of planning my wedding…and can’t figure out how in the world I got there :)

chai..I love chai. But when people call something chai in America I tend to get eratic and want to throw things. It’s not real chai. Someday I will make you real chai. It will change your life. I promise.

Oh and don’t even get me started on office supplies. LOVE THEM!! I secretly wish I was still in high school so that I could go shopping for school supplies. I love buying pens and post its and highlighers and note cards and binders, folders…everything. It takes more self control than I’d like to admit to just look and not buy. But hey, self control is a fruit of the spirit. So, one could say that by going to the school supply section of walmart is beneficial for my spiritual growth…interesting thought.
    :)

    • yeah. i’m guessing after you’ve lived in india, american “chai” is a joke. you’ll have to school me sometime. i’m ready for my life to be changed.

and i’m SO glad i’m not the only one who loves office supply stores!

  15. Jessica says:

    {chuckle}…i love spider-webbing….
i thought it would be fun to read the post backward, not sure why, but did. reverse spiderwebbing is just as cool! :)!

  16. Roo's mom says:

Nashville is where I came to know the Lord … back in 1978.

My first Christian concert was an Amy Grant performance in a little church called Belmont. I sat on the stage behind her in “overflow seats”. She was about my age. I had just accepted Christ. I was amazed to hear music that praised God in such simple and honest ways. It was all new for me. I have seen her perform several times since then, but nothing erases the memory of the “first time”.

Back then, I didn’t drink coffee or tea. Well, except for some sweet tea now and then.

My sophomore year at Vandy – I majored in places to eat and things to do. (Not a great idea – but I do have some fun memories.)

One of the favorites in Nashville … Loveless Cafe.

Mmmm – fried chicken and biscuits that melt in your mouth. I am sending a link to the on-line store … with a funny button you can buy. Check out the rest of the site. It is a famous place to eat … Nashville – Southern cooking at its finest.

    Enjoy your trip!

    speaking of curtains…….

    • that dustbunny line was for you. which i thought was kind of silly since you don’t make it over here very often… and then look at that! you showed up! YESSS!

      • deCath says:

ha! yes…we’re now borderline unethical stewards hawking internet from the business below our apartment. nice.
So i get to catch up on all that was once lost…like months of lost!
and i’m SO glad I did!!!!
        (miss you so)
and p.s.s….mark asked today if i thought you’d ever come visit us….i LOVE that.

    2 things.

    1. I know that we’ve discussed before our love for school supplies (via Tracee’s facebook statuses…stati?) but it still makes me smile that there’s another school supply lover out there.

    2. Amy Grant was my childhood hero. :)
