four-minute friday: iowa

Go.

It still feels a little unreal to me that I’ve spent this week with my friend Sara.

For lots of reasons.

Like the fact that I normally live on another continent. And Sara lives in Iowa of all places. Iowa.

And like how I had to be perfectly healthy so I don’t pass something on to her. And that is no small miracle for me.

But all the stars aligned—by the grace of God!—and here I am.

Every now and again I still squeal out an, “I can’t believe I’m in your house!” Because it really does seem too good to be true.

And it’s coming to an end all too quickly.

I’m not ready to leave, to say goodbye, to give Sara a final hug. I’m not ready.

But I am so unbelievably grateful.

My heart is going to hold on to this week for a very long time.

Done.

Seriously, I wish so much I could find the words to explain what this week has meant to me. I know so many words, and none fit the idea of knowing that I have a pajama wearing heart friend that my life wouldn’t be compete without. Sometimes we don’t know there’s something missing until someone comes along to fill it up. Thanks for making my life fuller.

Sounds like a priceless gift from a Prodigal God. Glad you’re enjoying Iowa. I may have spent most of my days in South Dakota for the last 7 years but growing up there, Iowa is still home.

  16. sounds like a tough place to be in. It is always hard to enjoy something when you know it is going to end soon. in the words of the black eyed peas live it up!!

“My heart is going to hold on to this week for a long time.” I love the way you write.

The picture on Sara’s blog of you and Riley is too cute. That is one photogenic dog. (And you don’t look so bad yourself!)

  18. Heart friends are a treasure no man can eloquently describe. But you certainly capture a glimpse of their beauty. So, so thankful you had this week. And so happy you have more friends to see in the next few months–can’t wait to hug you myself.
