four-minute friday: business meeting

Go.

A-hem. Can I have your attention please? It’s time for some Gritty business.

This meeting is officially called to order. All those present, say “Aye!”

  1. The talk to me page is finally up and running. That’s where you can go if you want to send me an email. But even better, you can also record and send me a video message! How fun is that?! So if you’re feeling creative or just want to say hey, go ‘head and send me some video mail.
  2. There’s also a new page called the lounge. It’s a video chat room—so all of you with webcams can meet up and talk to each other. I need you guys to check it out and let me know how it works. Maybe we need to organize an inaugural Grit chat!?!
  3. We’re getting close to 20,000 comments. We celebrated the 10,000th with a giveawayBrandy won herself some brownies—and I’m thinking we need to do something like that again. The big question is: what should the prize be?! Thoughts? Anyone? Bueller?

Meeting adjourned.

Done.

hmm…don’t really have any ideas for the prize for the 20,000th comment (yikes…20,000?!). I’ll think about it and let you know.

but what i really wanted to say was that i really liked the new seattle pictures up on the grit’s carousel. it makes my heart happy.

    • alece says:

my friend tracee has such a good eye! she took so many great pics in seattle that there’ll be another carousel with some new ones in a few weeks.

watching grey’s tonight made me wish i were back on bainbridge…

  2. Jace Sauble says:

i was like business meeting oh snap bust out the birthday suit.
    the grit is getting popular.
can i get your autograph please…haha just playing.

i loveeeeeeee it but even more so I LOVE YOU.

  3. Roo says:

    oh my, jacer. :-D
    and…. I’m here! I’m here! Aye!
I’ll send you a video message from London if I have time, how about that?
I’m all for the inaugural grit-chat. I’d love it so much.
More thoughts, but they flew away… probably somewhere behind the Balfour Declaration, Mamelukes and Ahmed Jazzar (“the Butcher”). Final final….. go!

    Aye!

And, ay chihuahua!!! Best business meeting I have EVER attended, lady.

I second the motion for an Inaugural Chat session.

I move that I the prize for the 20,000 comment be a ticket to come see that illustrious Alece. In the event that said movement is not approved by the budget committee I withdraw that movement and present an alternative movement that the prize be more brownies.

(you can’t go wrong with brownies!)

  5. Natalie Jane says:

Good ideas, Lady. I especially like the possibility for video messages.

  6. woah. four-minute-friday already geez this week has flown by.

i’m diggin’ the new stuff, as well. way excited about the video stuff’s. way, way excited. i think the give away should be another yummy treat. (and by the way…i have like….a thousand comments. you are as big as x-men to me).

    or maybe…umm….i got nothin.

  7. deCath says:

I vote for coffee during all following business meetings.

    Aye!!

    Where’s the bagels?

  9. Heidi

    says:

The New York has fallen off huh?

    • alece says:

i think my problem is that i don’t know how to buy bagels outside of NY. if i were home, i’d go to the nearby bagel shop and get ‘em hot and fresh. i refuse to buy bagged lender’s and call it even. i could buy a panera bagel, i guess. otherwise, i wouldn’t even know where to get some.

  10. how cool.

    i’ll check out the lounge.

good idea. hope i get 20,000. i love grit.

  11. the lounge is cool…

  12. alece says:

what do you guys think of a live video chat on saturday night at 9:00 PM EST?

tried it out today—so fun. i’m not sure what to do about the echo, but i think maybe headsets would help!?!?!

  13. Shinea says:

Aye! So I’m really looking forward to posting a video with me and Jack and maaaybe I can do a little dancin’ for you, too. I don’t have a webcam, so I’ll have to figure something out. As far as the winner, I’m not sure…it’s Friday afternoon, and I am spent. I’ll keep thinking…

  14. 20,000?

We’ll be at Daniel’s softball game Sat night…but otherwise I’d be there. It was fun…even if echoy (how do you spell that?)

  15. gitz says:

20,000 comments? And your own chat room?

You might be too cool for me to get to hang around… :)

So love the vibe you’re creating here!

  16. Bran Muffin says:

the prize should be you at their local airport. well, assuming it’s someone you know well. haha!

Actually, maybe the prize should be a color print of one of their fave pics on your carousel??

Think I could win again?? That would mean I’d have to step up my blog surfing again and neglect! Shame.

  17. Bran Muffin says:

    I meant NOT neglect. sheesh!

  18. Andrew Ronzino says:

    Aye!

I suggest a Krispy Kream gift card as the prize!

I will be meeting with a family that will be hosting a kid who will be with us for a month. He and his sister are coming next week.

  22. @ngie

He is 18 and she is 17. I am looking forward to having them here. They will be helping in the orphanage and in the office. I imagine that this will be life changing for them.

  23. @ngie

Well, I would love to stick around and play, but I must be going now.

I hope you are well Alece and all the other dear Gritters out there. Still contemplating a mascot for us… hm…

(this is kinda like tweeting on the Grit.)
(I am pseudo tweeting… because I have never actually tweeted… don’t even have a twitter account.)

(Although I do think their little birdie is cute. Oh, you probably don’t because you have bird phobia.)

  27. @ngie

What is bird phobia called again?

  28. @ngie

Speaking of bird Phobia your sweet Eyore post made me think of Roo.

  29. @ngie

Ok – So I came home and changed for the gym.

then DaRonn and I loaded his luggage in the truck.

We went to get some ice-cream before we headed to the airport.

I got a Java Latte. Kinda like a Frap with a dollup of ice-cream on the top.

so then we were off the airport.

    Just got this notice:

You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.

    Ha!

  37. @ngie
    @

Spent some time on the tread mill.

  38. @ngie
    @
    says:

now I am back home. made some phone calls. sent some emails. chatted on line. watched some you tube. kissed my kid. now I am commenting on the G&G. Obviously speed commenting due to caffeine from my Java Latte and endorphins from the gym. ha!

  39. @ngie
    @
    says:

I will be slightly embarrassed if the 20,000 th comment has been made already.

  40. @ngie
    @
    says:

but those feeling of embarrassment are supremely overpowered by how disgusted I know I will be if I haven’t given my very best effort to win that prize.

  41. @ngie
    @
    says:

though that strong feeling is NOT overpowered by competitiveness. I am perfectly happy for whomever walks away with that prize. :-)

  42. @ngie
    @

Oh well, I forgot to mention I am also playing my turns on WordScraper.

  43. @ngie
    @

That was supposed to be “Oh yeah” not “Oh well”. My fingers got ahead of my brain.

  44. @ngie
    @

I am going to give myself seven more minutes of playing this game.then it will be seven o’clock and I might need to put some food in my children’s mouths.

  45. @ngie

I am planning on doing some low key things tonight because I accomplished way too much today.

    • alece says:

i hope you enjoyed your low-key night… and after seeing all you accomplished here alone, i can imagine the rest of your day was crazy productive! :)

  46. @ngie
    @
    says:

Going to shower (I am still stinky from the gym – but my kids don’t care), going to paint, might check out if anyone is hanging out in the lounge, might watch something,…

  47. @ngie
    @
    says:

Did I tell you I met with the lawyer for the adoption today?

  48. @ngie
    @
    says:

We were able to turn our request in to the judge. We will hear from her in a couple of days if the judge has approved our request to adopt and given us the proper form to take to social services and move forward with the next step.

  49. @ngie
    @
    says:

I really need to do a blog about it. I wish I had more answers and that there was a set route we followed to adopt… but it is not so. we just have to go with the flow and do what they tell us to do. I pray our guts out to be sure that we are on the right path with the right people.

  50. @ngie
    @
    says:

Well, my dear, the bell tolls. I was going to write about what I was listening to on my iTouch at the gym… but we will just have to leave that for another e-convo.

    It’s been real my friend.

We will be talking soon I am sure.

    Love ya!
