four-minute friday: dressed up

Go.

Last Friday night, Niel and I got dolled up and went to a cocktail reception at the Consul-General’s palatial house. I dread those types of things (mingling with strangers?! mmm… no thanks), but ended up really enjoying it. I actually felt pretty all dressed up, rather than uncomfortable and self-conscious.

We connected with some great people and stood around talking while servers kept coming over with yummy appetizers on trays. Can’t ever go wrong with tasty treats. Gimme food in one hand and a glass of red wine in the other, and I can tackle just about any social situation.

But my favorite part of the whole evening? The napkins.

Done.

Mixin’ it up with the big shots huh? Fun stuff.

What a nice, new, fresh look for your blog.

You know what I am going to ask… Pros, cons and reasons behind the switch. I wanna know it all. :o)

Can I still subscribe to comments?

  4. Natalie says:

Fantastic napkins! They should sell these at Walmart, along with napkins bearing the presidential seal of other countries.

  5. Lisa says:

You look beautiful and happy, Alece! The night sounded like fun. :)

  6. HOTT MAMA!!!!! whew….. i, too, am NOT a fan of meeting strangers. shamefully, a glass of wine usually does the trick for me as well.
    ;)

so – truth: did you type all this AND ADD the pics in under 4 minutes? if so, you’re a pro!

angie — i think my new site definitely looks more professional than my old one, although wordpress isn’t as user-friendly as blogger. i think you need to use the “feed on comments” button (top right of my sight) to subscribe to comments in general. there’s no way to do what we used to do in blogger…

mandy – no, no, no… i’m not THAT fast. i wrote it all in 4 minutes. i added links and pics after the timer stopped.

thanks everyone for the compliments and encouragements.

I think those napkins need to become the standard for staff meetings.

I wonder if Brit can get a hold of the Pres.??

“Hi…uh…President Bush? This is Brittany White and I’d like to place an order for 300 presidential seal napkins. thanks. and, also, world peace.”

  10. alece says:

ha ha! kelly, that’s awesome. then you can all start saying “i serve at the pleasure of the president” when niel asks you to do something.

My marketer hubsand went to this (your) site ’cause I told him a bunch of people were making the jump so he wanted to check it out. He then goes, “How do I get to their ministry site form here?” I tell him he needs to go to Africa, yada yada yada. He says, “She needs to have a link on the front page so I don’t have to hunt for it.”

    So there you go. :o)

Also – The picture thing is no biggie for me, but I do miss the comments coming to my email. But I guess that will just increase traffic to your blog – ’cause you get good comments I will want to be checking them out.

Oh – And my address here. Note – All things coming to this address must be four pounds or lighter unless there are previous arangements made to avoid a ton of hassel. I know the cool letter thing that you are going to send doesn’t weigh that much – just for future reference and anyone else who would read this:

    Angie Washington
    Casilla 1835
    Cochabamba, Bolivia

That is it. Hope you are well.

  12. Hannah says:
