cherry on top
I spent a lot of time in the car yesterday. All the snow turned twenty-minute distances into hour-long ones. Living in Africa, I don’t often get the chance to drive in a snowstorm. So I actually didn’t mind it—honestly, I kind of enjoyed it.
I decided I wanted some hot frothy goodness for my now-an-hour drive home. I fishtailed my way through the unplowed Starbucks drive-thru. And when I got to the pick-up window, I was greeted by this:

The mini-me snowman, accessorized with coffee bean eyes and buttons, was the cherry on top of the best day I’ve had in a while.
What was the cherry on top of your yesterday?

that is AWESOME!!!
the cherry on top for me…carrying my sick little girl to bed after she fell asleep on the couch…she was limp as a noodle and hot with a fever…she opened her eyes and said, “go to bed”…then she passed back out…it was good to see her sleep!!!

Cherry On the Top??? Easy…..
Read Your comments last night…
My cheeks hurt and my heart was tremendously full.
Girlfriends are the best.

People are wonderful inventions! That someone would have the gumption to put a snowman out on the drive window is totally awesome and remember-worthy! Thanks for catching that random act of spontaneity and sharing it.
Cherry on the day for me was an unplanned ice-cream run with a loved one.
Haha! That’s so fun! My cherry yesterday? Umm, texting one friend while IM-ing another while also watching AI auditions in my hometown.
But I have a question for you – how did you manage to drink your coffee and hold it in until you got home? I guess an hour isn’t that long, but I have (unfortunately) learned my lesson. When I worked downtown, we had a snowstorm and my normally 25 minute drive turned into about 2 1/2 hours. I didn’t think about the logistics when I filled my water bottle on my way out the door and then drank it down for the first hour.
I seriously thought I was going to have to use that water bottle for another reason before I got home.
(I didn’t. I made it. Glad you did, too!)

So cute! Sadly, I did not have any cherries on top yesterday :( Maybe today I’ll have one though!
@cassgirl says:
Okay. I’ll say it.
He’s kinda cute!!
Lots of cherries on my day, just have to open my eyes to see them … my favorite? Hug from husband after I am feeling weary and hearing that He triumphed in the Lord when satan was working to drag him down. And, reading with baby girls before bedtime … nothing like that snuggle! :)
And, I agree with Heidi, he’s way cute!
My cherry on top was my husband not having class b/c his professor was sick…yay an unexpected evening together!
That is great!!
My cherry on top…call from a friend telling me she had fixed extra dinner and was on her way to bring it to us…just because.
Cherry on top? A new sketch of a heart-twig wreath with sunflowers. It was fun.
How funny!!! (And did they use coffee stirrers or straws for the arms?)
As for my cherry on top… hmm… a phone call from a friend I hadn’t heard from in a week.
this is awesome!
The Starbucks gal’s smile is so big! That would be the cutest, unexpected thing to see, little Mr. Coffee Bean Snowman.
Cherry on the top was watching online some extremely practical & biblically sound, faith-building teaching about hearing the voice of God, knowing what is or isn’t a calling, and how to walk in that. So encouraging and comforting and challenging at the same time.
Love it!
My cherry…..my two boys last night. Noah was holding Titus in a rocking chair rocking him before bed. They go at each other all day but for those….3 minutes it was sweet! :)
That is awesome!!!! :D
The cherry on top of my yesterday….. totally the convo here at The Grit late last night. I went to bed laughing and smiling. ;-)
that girl deserves a gold star!! and a raise!!! you should send that to corporate!
um the cherry on my cake was talking to my friend late last night, rocking Con and singing to him before bed (as is always the cherry on top), and working out for some me time.
Heidi! We had the same cherry on top of our day! :D
A kid in the Child Sponsorship painted me 2 amazingly beautiful pictures and his older sister thanked me for helping their family. We usually don’t even get a glance, let alone a “thank you” so a present was way out of the ball park.
Finally finding a fifty-pound bag of rock salt to put down on the path to my pad.
you guys have some fandamntastic cherries. so far my cherry for today is simply hearing all of yours.
The cherry on top of my day yesterday was when I received my box set of Friends! Ya for not having to watch the episodes on you tube anymore! :)
@cassgirl says:
Bran!!
There’s that word again
fandamntastic !!
Well Heidi, fandamntastic is a fandamntastic word! ;-)
Realizing my prank actually worked was a pretty good cherry on the top.
Ha.
that was a mighty fine cherry, becca.
i think it’s a prerequisite for starbucks workers to be really fun. most of the ones i’ve experienced have been. like the one who upgraded my grande chai frappuccino to a venti because i had a 2 1/2 drive ahead of me.
cherry on top: watching american idol auditions with my cousins and their daughter addie – the most important little girl in my life. i adore her. it was a good night of laughing and relaxing before i go back to school.
i concur on the sbux workers! (seriously – i think i’d really enjoy being a barista in another life…)
Hard to pick one best moment.
I am very lucky to be able to say that since I have retired my life has been one big bowl of cherries, not the least of which are all the great friends I have meet online like you.
Spent a day of smiles and laughter with some retired ex-co workers.
Reading crazyness here at “The Grit” was a highlight.
The last YouTube video I watched before going to bed was the beautiful voice of Diana Krall singing “The Look Of Love”. It amazes me that I can watch so many fabulous performances, for free, with just a few clicks.
Curt Coffield’s hair!
cute snowman!!
my “cherry on top” was visitng a hindu temple and a mosque, then eating at a little hole-in-the-wall burger place with a group of guys from my world religions class. who knew college could be so spontaneous and fun?!
p.s. i found out last night that one of my dear friends is going to south africa this summer to work with thrive! you’ll love her! :]
@cassgirl says:
@ed You were reading our antics last night

taylor — sounds like a great class that will spur on lots of great conversations. and… who’s your friend?
Count me in with Heidi and Alece! *BLUSH!* hahaha!!!
I love though that people can see our interactions and maybe share a laugh or two. heehee Because we are freaking hilarious! Are we not?! ;-) heehee
Shame… it’s been a rough last two or three days here. I’ll keep my cherry. But it certainly made me smile to read all of yours!
@tamhodge says:

shes peed in my toilet. (well, eewww) but you know…
bran — YOU are!
roo — i wish i could eat cherry pie with you.
tam — i love your cherry! (wait a minute…)
@knights_lady says:
tam – well, she is a rock star
Love Mr SnowBux
Cherry would be hubs being supportive about a rather last minute worship team practice. He even handled dinner.
my two hour nap. i woke up at 3:30 am, so had completed my 2 hour nap by 8 am.
then there was the contractor that came to give us an estimate on a house project (YEA! after 7.5 years!)
or was it that i didn’t have to cook at all yesterday.
or maybe that even tho’ i feel like an elephant is on my chest, i still managed to exercise.
or that i didn’t have to go shopping with Husband.
looking back…it feels like a day of cherries for me.
@danielleH says:
yesterday was a good day, as good as days are when husbands are in texas.
but i did really enjoy getting this one email in particular. it was from a dear friend and just made me as warm inside as your warm frothy beverage (but the email didn’t come with a snowman!)
Awwww … that’s awesome!!
Lecey, I’d love to share a cherry pie with you.
i’ve never actually eaten cherry pie… you and i will share my first slice.
