awol in october
October 1, 2008
Today brings with it the start of a new month. It’s also the beginning of a season of ever-changing scenery for Niel and I. We’ll be traveling quite a bit, and my online time will be scarce if not non-existent. When I do get a chance to blog, I know I’ll have much to share.
During the month of October, I’ll be…
- …going on safari with some of our interns and their visiting family members. Warmer weather and elephants await us!
- …celebrating ten years of ministry with our staff team at a nearby lake resort. Ten whole years?! I still can’t believe it.
- …attending Willow Creek’s Global Leadership Summit with our staff and interns. We’re staying in holiday apartments right on the Indian Ocean and even spending a day at a water park!
- …spending two weeks in my Grandma’s hometown of Palermo, Sicily. Niel is taking me for my 30th birthday and our 8th wedding anniversary. I. Can’t. Wait.
I am blessed!

Now that is some refreshing!! Just what I have been praying for for you!!!
“Warmer weather and elephants await us!”
Remember my 300 elephants…..Will you please take a picture of them in actual Africa for me and post it so I can see. Please. Crazy Request I know. LOL
I posted a video on my blog and sang a song to Cindy Beall that had Hippos in it. I thought of you the whole time. You and your hippo butts.
Refresh Beautifully!!

Awesome! Can’t wait to hear stories and see pics.
i think a much needed massage should find its way in there SOMEWHERE!!!
Every missionary should have that there statement in their mission/vision statement. they should. indeed.
Did somebody mention HEELS?! ;-) Globe trotting for sure!
I am so excited for you!! oh how I will miss you though!
I think you should take a picture of you in your heels in Sicily. Fully clothed of course.

WOW!
It’s so good you’re young — I’ll be praying for health and continuing strength.
Enjoy!
:-)
I. Love. You.
It sounds great – you could probably use the break. I’d tell you to enjoy yourself, but I think that’s a given.
October is going to be a good month for me, too.
Mostly, though, I’m sending mental hugs your way, and lots of smiles and love.
cathi — oh yes! i so need a massage!
brandy — “fully clothed of course”. ha ha!
michelle — yes yes! health and strength!
roo — why’s october a good month for you?
There are a lot of things going on, but the three at the top are: the beginning of my favorite season, finding out whether or not I’m able to study abroad, and I get to see David again.
In general, though, there are a lot of good things happening that I’m looking forward to. A lot. :-) It’ll be a hard month, too, but the positives are more obvious to me right now.
wow! fun stuff ahead for you. i’m really glad!

wow, friend. what a great month ahead. you deserve it. i didn’t know about italy…have so much fun!!
i will miss you!
with everything going on in my present it’s been hard for me to even think about what’s coming down the road… i’m sorry i haven’t mentioned it yet. i honestly haven’t even thought much about it. (not in an “oh i’m so ungrateful” way but more like “i am so overwhelmed right now, i don’t even know how i’m going to finish the day” sort of way)
Dear Father, give Alece all that she needs for this day, to make it through. Help her to hear Your voice and feel Your strength. Give her peace that Your will is forever being done…
…still praying…
ooooooh, have fun doing all this stuff! I know you will :)
you will be missed, but it sounds like it’s going to be an amazing month!
oh that sounds like such a wonderful month!! I love this time of year with all the fun “holiday” stuff going on. Too bad I can’t join you on safari!! And I can’t wait to hear about the visit to Grandmas home town! That will be awesome!!! I think I can forgive you for leaving us to comment among ourselves since we know what a good time you will be having!!
Italy?
Elephants?
Water Slides?
Sounds like a Disney movie. =)
have a blast, alece!!
That sounds like you will be having a great month Alece. You sure are getting a lot of experience in packing suitcases. North America, Europe and Africa, any plans for Asia?
It is good to see that someone who has brought some much joy to others is getting the opportunity to experience so much joy in their own life.
@tamhodge says:
sounds like you have a lot more better things to do than blogging.
