my kids
I scooped up Nkosi as soon as I saw him. (He’s “my” little two-year-old at the local orphanage.) I was relieved to find him much healthier than he’d been. As I held him in my arms, I prayed and spoke blessings over him. Nkosi’s name means “Little Warrior”, and that’s a promise I love to remind him of.
I got to do Peaberry’s bedtime routine with her. While she was heavier in my arms than the last time I rocked her, she still fit perfectly. I sang my go-to song for her, snuggled her close, and whispered sweet nothings everythings to her. She is more beautiful than ever, and I love her more than I could possibly explain.
I had a play-doh date with my Siloh. We sat on the floor making penguins and pancakes, and though he’s grown up a lot, it felt like no time at all had passed. “I missed you so much,” I told him again. He looked up at me and whispered his reply: “I was at work.” I couldn’t help but laugh as my heart melted even more.
Dang.
I really missed my kids in Africa…

Oh, Deece. Entiendo.
My face and my heart are smiling for you.
You’re ever in my thoughts…
smiling here….
Nkosi!!! Sometimes when I am praying for you, I go to the picture of you holding Nkosi last year. I fell in love with Nkosi you know that. Thank you for loving on him and speaking blessings together and a very big God, Nkosi will be a strong little man again.
“I was at work” wrecked me.
I still can’t believe how good Nkosi looks and how he’s walking so well. Lerato’s teeth are coming in that I kind of accidentally knocked out and Katlheho’s talking soooo much and he actually said my name last weekend. It’s so great to see those kids at Hope House.
Yeah! Soooo precious! Glad you went there to see your babies :)
did u just change ur banner or am I now just noticing it? I really like it!!! It pops!
it’s new!
and “pops” was how i described what i wanted to the guy who designed it. so it made me smile to hear you say “it pops”! yessssss!
YES!!!
I am happy for the time you have to hold little ones there! :)
The next time you hold them – may God impress upon your heart that He is
holding you, too.
What a mental picture, you praying over Nkosi like that. I can’t help but picture God doing that over US, wanting us to rise up and be “little warriors” that He has so many plans for, too!
Oh I love those words. That is what our Heavenly Daddy does. Wow!
mmmmm…. so, so true!
Kids are miraculous that way.
I agree with Mo, I like this banner better than the last one.

it sounds like a day at home with my two children…don’t know what i would do without them!!!

And, yeah. I’ve been soaking in the header for a while. I think I caught it just as you changed it – because I saw different a different banner when I refreshed the other day. I love it. And… I’m reading this again and almost crying… at work.
